Steven Scicluna (Malta, 1984) is a graphic artist, illustrator and cultural activist currently based in Valencia, Spain. His background includes studies in fine art, graphic design and illustration (UCA, UK).
He has produced work that spans various disciplines, including sculpture, painting, illustration, product design, murals, graphic design and printmaking. His background in graphic design means that the resulting visuals are often graphic in nature, rich in iconography, simple shapes, patterns and symbols.
Steven is the creator of the Objekts, a series of hand-crafted, wooden, geometric sculptures that were successfully crowdfunded via Kickstarter in April 2018. He is also a founding member of the Malta Community of Illustrators and is actively involved in the cultivation of graphic design and illustration culture in his home country.
His work experience involves leading in-house illustration services within engineering and architecture firm Arup in London (2013-2016), together with experience at several design studios in Malta and Spain. He now operates as a freelance illustrator and designer with clients including Heathrow Airport, Transport for London (TfL), Gatwick Airport, Harrod’s, University of Glasgow, Roca, Mapfre, Consum, Cevisama, Lavernia & Cienfuegos, Henkel, Google and the National Book Council (Malta), and also occasionally does art-related translation work from Spanish to English.
